The governing council of the Champions league of cricket has announced the schedule and the format of the tournament for this edition. The Champions League T20 tournament will be played over the month of September and will see ten sides divided into two groups of five teams each.
Each of the five sides will then play four games in a round-robin format, and the top two from each group will qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.
New South Wales Blues had won the first edition of the tournament that was played in India last year, but for this year, they have not qualified for the tournament. Victoria and South Australia have qualified for the tournament from Australia.
The first group consists of Central Districts, Chennai Super Kings, Victoria, Warriors, Wayamba whereas in Group B, there is Lions, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, South Australia and the West Indies team yet to qualify.
If a particular player qualifies to play for more than one team, then he can only play for an away team if his home team gets a compensation of $200,000 from that away team. Mumbai will play the first game of the tournament at Wanderers, which will also host the final.
