Even as the soccer world cup rages on in South Africa, the countdown to the cricket world cup which will be played in the Indian sub-continent from the last week of February next year has already started.
However, it is difficult to adjudge who the favourites for the tournament are. India has had an up and down kind of a run-up and their batting against pace bowling and the fast bowling department itself has been a suspect. Then again, Australia had looked good in the lead-up to this month’s series against England, but three successive losses seem to have pegged them back.
Sri Lanka have been good, but they have been losing to India as well, and not played too many games against other countries. South Africa’s performances in the World Cup events have been not been too good, and to expect them to win in the sub-continent would be expecting a lot.
England has had a good series, but they have generally been a little iffy, and despite the presence of a couple of good spinners in their rank, they have never won a World Cup before.
To me, it is going to be one of the closest World Cups ever and you can make use of online betting sites to place your bets on whom you think will be the favourites.
