A blistering performance from Ambati Rayudu (81) unbeaten helped Mumbai Indians to win against Bangalore Royal Challengers.
Chasing 172, Mumbai Indians were looking weak after losing some important wickets in early innings. But Ambati Rayudu once again displayed a knocking innings along with Kieron Pollard (52).
Sachin Tendulkar went for duck and Herschelle Gibbs (4). The embarrassment continued with Rohit Sharma (5) was picked up by Vinay Kumar. Muttaih Murlidharan (1/16) also gave breakthrough by taking Dinesh Karthik (16). However, no bowler could stop Rayudu in his best innings.
Hitting 4 sixes and 6 boundaries in his innings, Rayudu played some cracking shots as the run chase came to closure. Rayudu along with Pollard had a counter attack adding 122 runs partnership.
Bangalore in the early innings didn’t have the good start. Chris Gayle (6) went to pavilion. On the other hand, Virat Kohli (3) Saurabh Tiwary (21) De Villiers (14) couldn’t contribute much for raising the score.
However, Tillakaratne Dilshan (47) and Mayank Agarwal (64) unbeaten helped the score reach 170. Agarwal’s back to back six and boundaries in last over of Munaf Patel was a great help. Munaf Patel seemed to had bad day (54/4) was worst in this edition.
This match was delayed for 50 minutes due to rain. Now with this win, Mumbai Indians have earned 18 points, whereas Bangalore Royal Challengers earned 15 points in IPL standing.
