Cricket Aus bans Mumbai tour

Cricket Australia has suspended plans to send the Western Australian and Victorian squads to India in the wake of the terrorist attacks.

The Western Warriors and the Bushrangers were expected to leave for India tomorrow for the 20-twenty Champions League competition.

The Bushrangers were booked to stay at the Taj hotel, which has been attacked and occupied by gunmen.

Cricket Australia spokesman, Philip Pope says any cricket related travel to India has been suspended, effective immediately.

“We are in contact with DFAT, we have been speaking to our own security expert who is in India, we’ve been speaking to the ACA the players association and our own playing groups and stakeholders,” Mr Pope said.

“We find in circumstances like these that it takes at least 12 hours if not longer to gain a very clear picture and for clear details to emerge.”
